Project Engineer

About the role

The Project Engineer will lead site engineering projects within a cross‑functional environment, ensuring safe, on‑time delivery that complies with GMP standards. The role involves root‑cause investigations, MTBF‑driven initiatives, and coordination of engineering change control, while partnering with global Novartis engineering teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead site engineering projects with cross‑functional teams, ensuring safety, timeliness and GMP compliance.
• Conduct complex root‑cause investigations.
• Drive MTBF‑focused reliability projects.
• Manage engineering change assessments and lead formal change control processes.
• Plan, coordinate and monitor engineering projects from initiation to completion.
• Partner on capital investments, equipment validation and process engineering.
• Develop and maintain partnerships with Global Novartis Engineering to ensure consistency and standardisation of engineering processes.
• Provide second‑line escalation support for equipment failures.
• Reduce safety risks through simplification and error‑proofing of machines.
• Drive continuous improvement from an asset perspective.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics.
• Minimum three years of experience in pharmaceutical GMP manufacturing or a similarly highly regulated industry.
• Proven track record of leading engineering projects from planning through execution.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with high accuracy and independence.
• Strong structured problem‑solving approach with a hands‑on, safety‑driven mindset.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• Desirable: knowledge of Dutch language.
