Project Officer – Sanitation & Hygiene

About the role

The Project Officer will lead the implementation and monitoring of sanitation, hygiene and health activities in the Golbo Area Programme, contributing to increased water and sanitation coverage and hygiene promotion aligned with SDG 3 and SDG 6.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate emergency hygiene interventions, including distribution of non‑food items (soap, menstrual pads, water purification items, jerricans) and community training.
• Develop detailed implementation plans, map beneficiaries, arrange storage and transport for NFIs, and produce IEC materials.
• Ensure compliance with business processes, emergency standards and guidelines, and mentor community mobilisers.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, semi‑annual and final reports in line with World Vision Kenya and donor requirements.
• Collaborate with Ministry of Health, county governments, and other partners to implement interventions and participate in coordination meetings.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of experience in relief or development projects, preferably in sanitation and hygiene market‑based approaches.
• Degree in public/environmental health, community development or a related WASH field.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and negotiation skills, with commercial acumen for budgeting and financial management.
• Cross‑cultural sensitivity and ability to work with diverse stakeholders.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Proposal and concept writing for fundraising.
