About the role
The Public School Partnership Officer will support the implementation of SHOFCO’s Education Expansion strategy in public primary schools across Mombasa. The role focuses on coordinating school‑level delivery of interventions that improve foundational literacy and numeracy by strengthening teacher practice, EdTech use, school leadership, parental and learner engagement, and safety.
Key responsibilities
- Co‑design, plan and roll out public‑school interventions in low‑touch and high‑touch schools alongside the Public‑School Partnership Manager.
- Lead implementation of teacher professional development, EdTech solutions, school leadership and management, parental engagement, learner support and safeguarding activities.
- Conduct holiday PD sessions, lesson observations, feedback, coaching and communities of practice for high‑touch schools.
- Coordinate parental engagement activities, including meetings, EdTech tool dissemination and Board of Management involvement.
- Pilot and support EdTech tools, train ICT champion teachers and promote teacher adoption.
- Implement nudges and support strategies for learners at risk of dropout.
- Support government relations at county, sub‑county and school levels to ensure program sustainability.
- Map government, community, school and partner initiatives to identify synergies and avoid duplication.
- Line‑manage public‑school partnership coordinators to ensure high‑quality field implementation.
- Collaborate with internal SHOFCO departments such as WASH, Gender, Libraries and other relevant teams for integrated delivery.
Required profile
- Experience coordinating education interventions in public primary schools.
- Ability to manage and support field coordinators.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills with county, sub‑county and school authorities.
- Proven collaboration with cross‑functional teams (e.g., WASH, Gender, Libraries).
