Regional Finance Director – Africa

About the role

The Regional Finance Director, Africa, leads financial management for Mercy Corps’ Africa portfolio. Reporting to the VP of International Finance and the Deputy Regional Director, Operations, this senior role ensures compliance, efficiency, and strategic use of resources across programs.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with Finance Directors, Managers, and the Regional Controller to support award implementation and financial oversight.
• Conduct periodic support visits to country programs and monitor financial performance of the regional portfolio.
• Identify risks, weaknesses, and opportunities, and develop strategies to strengthen financial systems.
• Provide monthly financial health reviews and risk identification to senior leadership.
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement and problem‑solving across the Africa region.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in financial management, reporting, and compliance within an international or humanitarian organization.
• Proven ability to lead finance teams and influence senior stakeholders.
• Strong analytical mindset with a focus on risk identification and mitigation.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work across diverse cultures and time zones.
