Release of Information Specialist

About the role

The Release of Information (ROI) Specialist I works within the VitalChart department to process medical record requests efficiently while safeguarding patient privacy and complying with HIPAA and other regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Access, validate, and process Continuing Care and Disability Determination Services requests, prioritizing based on turnaround times.
• Retrieve and upload requested medical chart portions, perform quality control checks, and ensure accurate invoicing.
• Document all actions in ROI software, alert supervisors to unusual requests, breaches, or connectivity issues, and maintain secure storage of records.

Required profile

• High School Diploma (GED) required; degree preferred.
• Strong attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines, and solid documentation and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, stay focused for extended periods, and communicate effectively in English.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience using Windows operating systems.
• Familiarity with EHR/EMR platforms and basic medical records handling.
