Remote Accounting Manager / Senior Accountant – Pack Leader

About the role

Career Directions Limited is hiring a fully remote Accounting Manager / Senior Accountant (Pack Leader) based in Kenya who supports a U.S.-based accounting team. The role is full-time (40 hours per week) with strong overlap with U.S. business hours and reports to the Quality Control Lead. It is a leadership position, not just a senior bookkeeping role, and the Pack Leader will lead staff accountants, own the quality and timeliness of client financials and become increasingly client-facing.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and mentor staff accountants, assign and monitor work, give performance feedback and hold the team accountable for accuracy and deadlines.
• Take ownership of accounting and client problems, research solutions and escalate only when necessary with a clear path forward.
• Manage recurring client workflows, track open items and meet month-end and other deadlines.
• Oversee bookkeeping and accounting for U.S. restaurant and multi-unit clients, including bank and credit card reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, and P&L, balance sheet and cash flow statements.
• Lead month-end close, support quarterly hard closes, prepare work for Quality Control reviews and audits, and keep records audit-ready.
• Communicate with restaurant owners and operators, partner with Relationship Managers on client-ready financial statements, and build trust with clients.
• Work with U.S. accountants, Relationship Managers and Quality Control Leads, and document and improve workflows and SOPs.

• Strong accounting expertise and leadership maturity.
• Ownership, curiosity, adaptability, problem-solving ability and executive presence.
• Ability to make sound accounting judgment calls and to act as a client-facing accounting leader.
