Resident Obstetrician & Gynecologist

About the role

This full‑time resident position offers the opportunity to provide comprehensive obstetric and gynaecological care in a busy tertiary hospital setting. You will work alongside senior consultants, managing both routine and high‑risk pregnancies and performing a range of surgical procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver specialist outpatient and inpatient obstetric and gynaecological services.
• Diagnose and manage normal and high‑risk pregnancies, overseeing antenatal, intrapartum, postpartum and postnatal care.
• Perform elective and emergency surgeries, including Caesarean sections, hysterectomies, laparotomies and laparoscopic procedures.
• Handle obstetric and gynaecological emergencies in line with national and international guidelines.
• Conduct infertility assessments and manage benign and malignant gynaecological conditions.
• Supervise labour, maternity, theatre and gynaecology wards and mentor junior staff.
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, clinical audits, mortality reviews and CME activities.
• Interpret ultrasound, laboratory and radiological investigations and ensure accurate documentation.

Required profile

• MBChB degree from a recognised university.
• MMed in Obstetrics and Gynaecology or equivalent specialist qualification recognised in Kenya.
• Registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council and a valid practising licence.
• Minimum three years post‑specialisation clinical experience in a Level 4‑6 hospital.
• Fellowship (COSECSA, RCOG or equivalent) and certifications in BLS and Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics are advantageous.
