Retail Underwriting Analyst

About the role

The Retail Underwriting Analyst provides technical support to the underwriting team, ensuring accurate risk analysis and high levels of customer service for life insurance policies.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare policy documents promptly and within guidelines for client submission.
• Assess proposed risks against set standards.
• Provide accurate management information to support business growth.
• Facilitate information flow between finance and operations.
• Process new policies received from Sales & Distribution and ensure timely delivery.
• Reinstate eligible lapsed policies to conserve business.
• Maintain detailed records of underwritten policies and decisions.
• Review proposal forms for quality compliance with pre‑underwriting requirements.
• Deliver high‑standard customer service via walk‑ins, phone, and email.
• Liaise with intermediaries and direct clients on policy issues.
• Reconcile underwriting transactions to ensure accurate reporting.
• Address customer queries promptly and resolve concerns.
• Cancel policies for non‑payment in line with underwriting procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field.
• Professional insurance qualification such as ACII, AIIK or LOMA.
• At least two years of experience in the insurance industry.
• In‑depth understanding of life insurance operations and regulatory requirements.
