School Nurse (Locum) – Nairobi

About the role

Provide safe, professional, and responsive nursing care to students and staff, supporting a healthy, safe, and supportive school environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver first aid, respond to medical emergencies, and arrange appropriate care or referrals.
• Conduct basic health assessments and screenings, identify health concerns early, and recommend follow‑up.
• Educate students on hygiene, nutrition, disease prevention, personal safety, and healthy lifestyles.
• Support pupils with chronic conditions such as asthma, epilepsy, diabetes, allergies, and other medical needs.
• Provide basic emotional support, identify students needing additional assistance, and facilitate referrals.
• Collaborate with teachers, administration, parents, and healthcare professionals to promote a safe school environment.
• Maintain accurate health records, ensure confidentiality, and coordinate specialist referrals when required.

Required profile

• Diploma or Degree in Nursing (KRCHN, BScN or equivalent) and registration with the Nursing Council of Kenya.
• Valid practising licence and at least two years of post‑qualification nursing experience.
• Current First Aid / Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Certificate of Good Conduct.
• Previous experience in a school health setting is an advantage.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to work collaboratively with students, staff, and parents.
