Sector Head, Business Banking (Energy & Infrastructure)

About the role

Lead the Energy & Infrastructure client franchise within Commercial Banking, developing deep sector expertise, growing a portfolio of commercial clients, and driving sustainable revenue growth while ensuring robust risk management.

Key responsibilities

• Originate, structure and deliver client‑centric banking solutions by coordinating cross‑functional teams.
• Act as a trusted advisor to senior client stakeholders, providing strategic sector insights and identifying growth opportunities.
• Drive portfolio growth, revenue generation, wallet‑share expansion and new business acquisition while maintaining strong client retention.
• Maintain effective risk management as the first line of defense, complying with the bank’s risk appetite and regulatory standards.
• Lead and influence deal teams to execute complex transactions and negotiate commercial outcomes.
• Represent the bank in industry forums, strengthen market networks and spot emerging sector opportunities.

Required profile

• First degree in Business, Commerce, Finance or a related field.
• 8‑10 years of banking experience, with at least 7 years in senior roles and 5 years focused on energy and infrastructure.
• Minimum 3 years managing small teams (up to 5 members).
• Deep knowledge of Kenya’s energy and infrastructure market, including dynamics, trends and regulatory landscape.
• Proven ability to translate sector insights into client opportunities and growth strategies.
