Security Officer II (IPOA)

About the role

The Independent Polipping Oversight Authority (IPOA), which provides civilian oversight of the police, is recruiting two Security Officers II (Grade IPOA 9) at its headquarters in Westlands, Nairobi. The officer reports to the Senior Assistant Director, Security and is responsible for managing and coordinating all security operations in the Authority.

Key responsibilities

• Support the implementation of policies, strategies, guidelines, systems, plans, standards and procedures affecting security services, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations
• Coordinate outsourced security services
• Conduct internal investigations and gather intelligence to enhance security in the Authority
• Undertake weapon handling and armed security operations
• Carry out surveillance and access control operations
• Take part in security risk analysis and surveys, and provide security updates and advisories
• Provide close protection and security escort services
• Support capacity-building programmes on security matters and implement disaster management programmes
• Update departmental records and collect and collate data for internal and external reports

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Criminology, Forensic Science, Criminal Justice, Security Management or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution
• Proficiency in computer applications
