Senior Accountant – Nairobi

About the role

We are seeking a dynamic Senior Accountant to join our Nairobi team at AVSI Foundation. The role involves maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, ensuring statutory compliance, and supporting effective financial management for our non‑profit operations.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, examine and analyse accounting records, financial statements and other reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards.
• Compile monthly and annual financial statements and management reports.
• Maintain financial records in line with organisational policies and procedures.
• Establish and monitor accounting control procedures and resolve discrepancies.
• Compute taxes, prepare returns and ensure compliance with tax regulations.
• Analyse revenues and expenses, advise on financial trends and resource utilisation.
• Assist in the management of asset and inventory registers.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Required profile

• Degree in Accounting or Finance from a recognised institution.
• Certified Public Accountant (Kenya) and member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya.
• Minimum five years of experience as an accountant or in a comparable role; non‑profit experience is an advantage.
• Computer literate with proficiency in accounting software.

• Microsoft Navision (or similar accounting software).
