Senior Backend Engineer

About the role

M-KOPA is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to design and deliver event‑driven microservices that enable digital and financial inclusion across Africa. You will own solutions end‑to‑end, from architecture to production monitoring, within a fully remote, collaborative environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain C#/.NET microservices using event‑driven patterns and messaging technologies such as Service Bus, Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Implement infrastructure as code, containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines to support continuous delivery.
• Ensure observability by integrating Prometheus and Grafana for monitoring and alerting.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams across the UK, Europe and Africa, providing coaching and code reviews.

Required profile

• Strong experience with C# and .NET development.
• Hands‑on experience building event‑driven systems and microservice architectures.
• Proficiency with cloud platforms (Azure preferred, AWS or GCP acceptable).
• Familiarity with container orchestration (Kubernetes) and Docker.
• Commitment to DevOps culture, automated testing and infrastructure as code.
