Senior Consultant - Carbon Markets Advisory

About the role

PwC is seeking a Senior Consultant to join its Carbon Markets Advisory team within the International Development and Public Sector Consulting practice. The role supports client engagements across Kenya and the wider East Market Area, helping governments, development partners, financial institutions and private sector organisations navigate carbon crediting, climate finance and sustainable investment opportunities.

Key responsibilities

• Assist clients in assessing carbon market mechanisms and their applicability to existing or planned projects.
• Develop project documentation, financing proposals and technical/commercial viability analyses.
• Support the design and implementation of climate‑related financing instruments such as green, sustainability‑linked and transition bonds.
• Conduct market and regulatory research across sectors including energy, waste, forestry, transport, industry, water, agriculture and nature‑based solutions.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver tailored advisory services and implementation plans.

Required profile

• Professional experience in carbon markets, climate‑related project development or climate finance.
• Demonstrated ability to work on client‑facing assignments at a senior associate level.
• Strong analytical skills and understanding of sustainable finance mechanisms.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to translate complex technical concepts for diverse stakeholders.

Required skills

• Knowledge of carbon crediting pathways (e.g., REDD+, blue carbon, restoration).
• Familiarity with climate‑finance instruments such as green bonds, sustainability‑linked bonds and transition bonds.
• Experience conducting market, regulatory and technical feasibility assessments.
