Senior Facilities Management Assistant

About the role

The United Nations Office at Nairobi is seeking a Senior Facilities Management Assistant to support the Facilities Management and Transport Section. The incumbent will coordinate construction, maintenance and renovation activities across UNON premises, ensuring compliance with safety, fire and building regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate construction, repair, maintenance and installation of conventional and temporary buildings, infrastructure and sites.
• Plan and manage renovation projects, including conceptual design, functional analysis and alternative solutions.
• Prepare scopes of work, technical specifications, engineering drawings, bills of quantity and cost estimates.
• Review contractor invoices, assist with cost recovery and monitor contract implementation.
• Conduct technical evaluations of offers and supervise contract performance to ensure compliance with drawings and specifications.
• Liaise with Safety and Security for inspections, accident investigations and hazard mitigation.
• Develop standards and guidelines for existing and future facilities.
• Draft audit responses, status reports, briefing papers and ad‑hoc updates for internal and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary education in engineering, architecture, construction management or a related field.
• Extensive experience in facilities management, construction coordination and contract administration.
• Strong understanding of building codes, health and fire safety regulations.
• Proven ability to prepare technical specifications and cost estimates.
• Excellent analytical, reporting and communication skills.
