Senior Frontend Engineer – React (Malaysia/China)

About the role

Standard Chartered is looking for a technically strong, solutions‑oriented Senior Frontend Engineer to lead the design, development and optimisation of high‑performance web applications. The role will be based in either Malaysia or China and involves establishing frontend design principles, coding standards and architectural patterns that align with the bank’s long‑term vision.

Key responsibilities

• Define and enforce frontend design principles, coding standards and architectural patterns.
• Architect performance‑first React applications using modern frameworks such as React Server Components and Streaming SSR.
• Lead migration to modern optimisation techniques and prototype emerging solutions.
• Mentor and guide engineering teams on best practices, Agile development and secure programming.
• Break down complex requirements into actionable user stories and own end‑to‑end delivery.
• Drive cross‑team architecture decisions, resolve micro‑frontend and shared‑library dependencies.
• Negotiate technical feasibility with product owners and oversee release management.

Required profile

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to view problems from multiple angles and resolve issues quickly.
• Broad expertise across frontend and infrastructure layers to troubleshoot end‑to‑end.
• Proven experience leading and grooming technical teams.
• Ability to perform detailed requirement analysis and translate them into smaller user stories.
