Senior Legal – Dispute Resolution & Employment Law (Nairobi)

About the role

Our client, a leading law firm in Kenya, is expanding its Dispute Resolution, Employment & Labour and Advisory practice. The firm seeks an experienced Senior Legal Professional to lead complex, high‑value matters and manage key client relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage complex contentious and non‑contentious matters across Dispute Resolution, Employment & Labour Law and other commercial and advisory areas.
• Provide high‑quality, practical and commercially sound legal advice and representation while maintaining excellent standards of drafting and advocacy.
• Manage significant client relationships, ensuring matters are handled efficiently, responsively and to a high standard of client care.
• Lead, supervise, mentor and develop lawyers and other team members through effective delegation, coaching and review of work.
• Oversee assigned matters, including deadlines, workflow, risk management, billing, fee collection and overall financial performance.
• Contribute to business development, client retention and practice growth, while working collaboratively with Partners and the wider team.

Required profile

• Advocate of the High Court of Kenya in good standing with at least 8 years post‑qualification experience, preferably in a reputable mid‑tier or top‑tier law firm.
• Strong experience in Employment & Labour Law or Dispute Resolution, particularly civil and commercial disputes, together with substantial advisory experience.
• Demonstrated ability to independently handle complex legal matters and consistently deliver high‑quality technical work.
• Excellent advocacy, legal drafting, analytical, research and communication skills with strong attention to detail.
• Proven experience managing significant client relationships and leading, supervising and mentoring legal professionals.
• Strong commercial judgement and experience in billing, fee collection, financial management and business development, with high standards of professional integrity and accountability.
