Senior Manager, Compliance Testing

About the role

Equity Bank is seeking a Senior Manager – Compliance Testing to lead risk‑based compliance testing across its branches and head‑office units. The role provides independent second‑line assurance on the adequacy and effectiveness of controls, ensuring consistent application of the bank’s Compliance Testing Methodology.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement risk‑based compliance testing plans aligned with regulatory priorities.
• Lead onsite and offsite testing engagements, managing scope, timelines and methodology.
• Perform technical compliance testing and effectiveness assessments of controls.
• Apply standardized scoring and five‑tier rating to evaluate compliance performance.
• Prepare high‑quality testing reports with findings, root causes, risk ratings and recommendations.
• Monitor Service Level Agreements, track remediation actions and ensure sustainability of control improvements.
• Escalate high‑risk findings, regulatory breaches and risk‑appetite breaches according to governance structures.
• Maintain issue trackers, dashboards and compliance reporting packs for senior management visibility.

Required profile

• Proven experience in compliance testing, risk assessment or internal audit within a financial institution.
• Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and compliance standards.
• Ability to design and execute risk‑based testing methodologies.
• Excellent analytical, reporting and stakeholder‑management skills.
