Senior Quality Assurance Supervisor – Fixed-term

About the role

One Acre Fund is looking for a Senior Quality Assurance Supervisor to lead compliance and quality processes at its macadamia processing factory in Sagana, Kenya. The role ensures that raw materials, in‑process operations and finished products meet internal, customer and statutory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee raw material intake, verify quality of incoming nuts and packaging materials.
• Manage in‑process sampling at critical stages (cracking, sorting, drying) and enforce sensory testing for rancidity and off‑flavors.
• Control product grading, classification and final release, placing batches on hold when specifications are not met.
• Conduct independent verification of Critical Control Points and Operational Prerequisite Programs, escalating deviations and documenting corrective actions.
• Lead and develop a team of QA and sanitation inspectors, maintain training matrices and schedule shift coverage.
• Perform routine PRP inspections, review pest‑control reports and support zoning enforcement to prevent cross‑contamination.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years experience in food quality assurance, preferably in macadamia processing.
• Diploma or degree in Food Science, Food Technology or related field.
• Demonstrated people‑management experience supervising inspection teams.
• Eligibility to work in Kenya (citizen or permanent resident).

Required skills

• Knowledge of food safety standards such as ISO 22000, HACCP, FSSC 20000 and BRCGS.
• Experience with sampling regimes, sensory analysis and CCP verification.
• Familiarity with Operational Prerequisite Programs, pest‑control monitoring and sanitation inspections.
• Ability to interpret laboratory results, moisture confirmations and grading reports.
