Site Development Manager – East Africa

About the role

The Site Development Manager (SDM) for East Africa will lead the strategic enhancement of existing DHL Supply Chain sites across the region. Working closely with site and operational teams, the SDM will design and execute Site Development Plans (SDPs) that stabilise, develop and grow performance in a standardised, sustainable way.

Key responsibilities

• Support the creation of SDPs by consolidating actions agreed with site management, general management, business unit directors and Operations Excellence leads.
• Ensure SDPs align with DHL Supply Chain strategic initiatives and focus on customer‑centric continuous improvement.
• Implement structured review governance (e.g., TDM meetings) to track progress, manage timelines and ensure accountability.
• Facilitate workshops and meetings to drive execution of SDP actions.
• Identify and leverage best practices, collaborating with Continuous Improvement and Logistics Engineering teams to develop innovative solutions.
• Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers and regional functional teams.
• Support under‑performing sites and start‑ups by driving turnaround and performance improvement plans.
• Ensure BASICS / "The DHL Way" standards are implemented and operational gaps are closed through the SDP.
• Proactively identify, manage and escalate risks and issues.

Required profile

• Proven experience in logistics or supply‑chain operations with a focus on site performance improvement.
• Strong strategic thinking and ability to translate strategic goals into actionable site plans.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, capable of influencing cross‑functional teams.
• Experience driving continuous improvement initiatives and operational excellence programmes.
