Social Worker – Child Protection & Family Reintegration

About the role

The Social Worker will manage case files, conduct family tracing and support the safe transition of children from institutional care to family‑based care at the AIC Mogogosiek Baby Home in Bomet County. This full‑time role reports to the Home Manager and contributes to trauma‑informed care and the home’s shift toward community‑based placement.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain individual child case files, assessments and care plans, including pre‑admission paperwork.
• Act as Home Manager in their absence.
• Conduct family tracing, verify caregiver information and facilitate case conferences.
• Assess family safety and capacity, prepare children and families for reintegration or alternative care.
• Develop and review family‑strengthening plans in liaison with the Program Manager.
• Coordinate safe reintegration, psychosocial support and essential services.
• Monitor children and families post‑placement, manage referrals and link to community services.
• Implement trauma‑informed care strategies and train staff as needed.
• Provide weekly supervision for direct caregivers.
• Identify, respond to and report child protection and safeguarding concerns.

Required profile

• Faithful to AIC‑Chariots for Hope’s mission; mature Christian with church testimony.
• Diploma in Social Work, Social Development, Community Development, Child Care & Protection or related field; Bachelor’s degree is an advantage.
• 2‑3 years of experience in child protection, case management, family strengthening or related child‑welfare work.
• Knowledge of Kenya’s Children Act 2022 and child safeguarding procedures.
• Strong assessment, problem‑solving and communication skills.
• High personal integrity, teamwork orientation and compassion.
• Fluency in English and Kiswahili; local language knowledge is a plus.
• Valid driver’s license (advantage) and willingness to reside on campus if required.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• General computer literacy.
