Software Developer Intern – AI Agent Engineering Focus

About the role

We are offering a six‑month internship for recent ICT graduates who want hands‑on experience building real‑world software. Interns will join Green Com’s development team in Nairobi, work on live projects and focus on AI agent engineering – systems where large language models reason, use tools and perform tasks autonomously.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and maintain software applications alongside senior developers.
• Build and experiment with AI agents and LLM‑powered features, including prompt design, tool integration and workflow automation.
• Integrate third‑party APIs and services into company solutions.
• Write clean, well‑documented and maintainable code.
• Participate in code reviews, team meetings and agile sprint activities.
• Troubleshoot, debug and improve existing systems.
• Research emerging AI and software development tools and share findings with the team.

Required profile

• A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems or another ICT‑related field.
• Working knowledge of at least one programming language such as Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java or C#.
• Understanding of software development fundamentals, including data structures, version control (Git) and databases.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and willingness to learn.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Required skills

• Experience with AI agent frameworks or APIs such as Claude, OpenAI or Gemini.
• Familiarity with LangChain, LlamaIndex, retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG) or Model Context Protocol (MCP).

• Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerisation with Docker.
