Systems & Infrastructure Officer

About the role

Brites Management Services is hiring a full-time Systems & Infrastructure Officer in Mlolongo for a manufacturing environment. The role manages and maintains the organisation's IT hardware, software, LAN and WAN so that production processes run reliably with minimal downtime.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure, maintain and troubleshoot servers, workstations, printers and other IT hardware, and keep asset registers and configuration documentation up to date.
• Configure and manage LAN/WAN infrastructure (routers, switches, VLANs, firewalls, VPNs, wireless networks) and monitor performance, availability, security and bandwidth.
• Install, patch and maintain operating systems, business applications and server software, and manage user accounts and access rights.
• Support ERP, SCADA, IoT and automation systems used in manufacturing, and work with production and engineering teams to integrate IT with manufacturing equipment.
• Implement security controls, apply patches and hardening, and support security incident response.
• Set up and test backups, verify restore procedures and maintain disaster recovery plans.
• Provide first- and second-level technical support, prioritise incidents by business impact and document them.
• Monitor servers, networks, storage and internet connectivity, and prepare performance, availability and incident reports.
• Work with IT vendors and ISPs, evaluate technologies, and support procurement, warranties and service-level agreements.
• Develop and maintain IT policies, procedures, standards and network diagrams.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Engineering or a related field.
• 3-5 years of hands-on experience in IT infrastructure, systems administration or network administration.
• Experience in a medium-to-large organisation with multiple users and systems.
• Experience in a manufacturing, industrial, engineering, logistics or similar operational environment is an added advantage.
