About the role
The Aga Khan Academy, Nairobi is seeking a Teacher Librarian to lead its junior school library. The role creates an inclusive, dynamic library environment that supports the International Baccalaureate curriculum and promotes lifelong reading and research habits.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and manage a well‑organized, relevant library collection, including cataloguing, classification, and inventory control.
- Plan and oversee the library budget, acquisitions, and resource maintenance.
- Teach information literacy, research skills, and reading programmes to students.
- Collaborate with teachers to integrate library resources into classroom curricula.
- Promote academic honesty, copyright awareness, and ethical use of resources.
- Engage students, parents, and staff in library activities and reading initiatives.
- Maintain accurate records of library assets and textbook distribution.
- Ensure smooth daily operations of the library.
Required profile
- Degree in Library and Information Science with a teaching qualification.
- Minimum three years of experience teaching and/or managing a school library, preferably in an IB or international school setting.
- Registered with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
- Strong knowledge of information literacy, research methods, and academic integrity.
Required skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
