Team Leader – NYOTA Refugee Business Development Services

About the role

The Team Leader will provide technical, operational and quality leadership for the design, adaptation and delivery of the NYOTA Business Development Services package for refugee youth across Kakuma, Kalobeyei and Dadaab sites.

Key responsibilities

• Lead planning and implementation of the NYOTA BDS assignment across Turkana and Garissa counties.
• Supervise BDS Delivery Specialists, trainers, mentors and other implementation personnel.
• Oversee contextual assessment, review, adaptation and finalisation of curricula on business development, socio‑emotional skills and mentorship, ensuring gender‑responsive and disability‑inclusive content.
• Manage Training‑of‑Trainers, mentorship programmes, business networking and market‑linkage activities, promoting safe participation of women, girls and persons with disabilities.
• Ensure accurate documentation, monitoring and reporting to DRC, MSEA and other stakeholders.

Required profile

• Minimum eight years experience in entrepreneurship programmes, with at least five years in business/entrepreneurship training for refugee communities.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Kenya’s micro‑ and small‑enterprise context, especially in refugee settings.
• Experience designing gender‑responsive and disability‑inclusive programmes.
• Master’s degree in a relevant discipline.
• Fluent in written and spoken English and Kiswahili.

Required skills

• Strong coordination and supervisory skills for multi‑disciplinary teams.
• Ability to develop and adapt training materials and mentorship guides.
• Experience with monitoring, quality assurance and reporting in humanitarian projects.
