Trial Attorney – Office of Immigration Litigation

About the role

The Office of Immigration Litigation (OIL) is seeking a Trial Attorney to lead and manage complex immigration‑related litigation on behalf of the United States government. The attorney will work closely with agency clients, federal partners, and the United States Attorney’s Offices to protect the administration’s immigration policies.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute litigation strategies for district and appellate courts.
• Draft complaints, motions, answers, briefs, and other court filings.
• Conduct pre‑trial work, including discovery, motions practice, and settlement negotiations.
• Participate in hearings, oral arguments, and emergency restraining‑order proceedings.
• Advise Congress and federal agencies on immigration‑law questions.
• Handle attorney‑fee disputes and mandamus actions.

Required profile

• Bar admission and good standing in a U.S. jurisdiction.
• Extensive experience in immigration, administrative, statutory, and constitutional law.
• Proven ability to manage high‑stakes, fast‑paced litigation.
• Strong written and oral advocacy skills.
