Urban Law Intern

About the role

The United Nations is recruiting an Urban Law Intern based in Nairobi (Westlands). This is an internship within the UN Internship Programme, open to students who are close to completing their first university degree or who have already graduated.

Required profile

• Enrolled in a graduate programme (second university degree or higher), in the final year of a first university degree (minimum Bachelor's level), or have graduated with a Bachelor's, Master's or PhD.
• A field of study closely related to the internship is required; preferred areas are law, international relations or diplomacy.
• No professional work experience is required.
• Experience researching urban law topics such as urban planning, land, climate change and housing.
• Experience reviewing and analysing legal documents.
• Desirable: experience organising events (expert group meetings, consultative meetings and conferences) or supporting outreach activities.

Required skills

• Computer literacy with standard software, including Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to interact respectfully with people of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs.
• Keen interest in the work of the United Nations and commitment to its Charter ideals.
