About the role
Impact HR is seeking a professional Waiter/Waitress and Barista to join its hospitality team in Mombasa. The role involves delivering high‑quality guest service in a luxury restaurant and villa setting, preparing premium coffee and non‑alcoholic beverages, and ensuring smooth front‑of‑house operations.
Key responsibilities
- Welcome guests, present menus, and provide detailed knowledge of food, beverages, wines, cocktails, coffees, teas and daily specials.
- Take orders accurately, communicate them to kitchen and bar, and serve food and drinks according to luxury service standards.
- Prepare and serve espresso‑based drinks, specialty teas, fresh juices, smoothies and other non‑alcoholic beverages.
- Set up restaurant tables, private dining areas and villa dining spaces, ensuring proper linen, cutlery, crockery and glassware.
- Serve alcoholic and non‑alcoholic beverages responsibly, recommend wine pairings and maintain correct temperatures.
- Maintain personal hygiene, comply with HACCP and food‑safety procedures, and keep workstations clean.
- Prepare accurate guest bills, process cash, card and electronic payments, and balance receipts.
- Assist with inventory checks of beverages, coffee supplies and service equipment, reporting any shortages or breakages.
Required profile
- Minimum 36 months (3 years) of experience in hospitality, preferably in guest service, barista or restaurant roles.
- Mid‑level qualification as indicated by the employer.
- Ability to handle guest requests, complaints and special dietary requirements courteously.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast‑paced, luxury environment.
Required skills
- Operation and maintenance of coffee machines, grinders and related equipment.
- Knowledge of HACCP and food‑safety standards.
- Proficiency with point‑of‑sale (POS) systems for billing and payment processing.
- Ability to prepare espresso‑based drinks, specialty teas and other non‑alcoholic beverages.
