WPS Programme Consultant – East & Southern Africa

About the role

The Women, Peace and Security (WPS) Programme Consultant will support UN Women’s East and Southern Africa Regional Office (ESARO) in implementing the Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF) Rapid Response Window. Based in Nairobi, the consultant will provide administrative and programme operational support to ensure effective delivery of grant‑making, capacity‑building and advocacy activities across the region.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Policy Advisor, Women, Peace and Security in managing the WPHF project portfolio.
• Coordinate grant administration, including application review, disbursement tracking and reporting.
• Support capacity‑building workshops for women‑ and youth‑led organisations.
• Monitor implementation of peace agreements and compile gender‑responsive data for reporting.
• Facilitate communication between UN Women, partners and beneficiaries.

Required profile

• Relevant university degree (e.g., International Relations, Development Studies, Gender Studies).
• Experience working on peacebuilding, humanitarian or gender‑equality programmes in East and Southern Africa.
• Strong understanding of the Women, Peace and Security agenda.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
