Account Manager – Portfolio & Repayment Specialist

About the role

The Account Manager will oversee the health of a loan portfolio in the Mount Kenya region, ensuring customer satisfaction and optimal loan utilization after disbursement. The role involves KYC verification, documentation readiness, and full responsibility for repayment, churn prevention, and cross‑selling opportunities.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct pre‑disbursement KYC visits to validate customer and business information.
• Verify documentation completeness and coordinate handover for loan disbursement.
• Act as the primary point of contact for clients after disbursement.
• Drive repayment follow‑up, manage arrears, and enforce collection discipline.
• Detect early risk signals and maintain active engagement to prevent churn.
• Identify and promote renewals, top‑ups, and cross‑sell Avenews’ product suite.
• Track utilization, repayment trends, and customer behavior to guide interventions.
• Prepare accurate reports on portfolio status, risks, and customer satisfaction.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Agribusiness or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years experience in account management, credit operations or SME financing.
• Strong understanding of credit processes and Central Bank of Kenya regulatory expectations.
• Proven track record in relationship management and collections.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and analytical abilities.
