Accountant

About the role

Merino Meats is hiring a full-time Accountant based in Westlands, Nairobi. The role covers day-to-day bookkeeping, reconciliation of bank and mobile money accounts, preparation of monthly management accounts and payroll, and supporting the cashier till.

Key responsibilities

• Record daily sales, purchases and expenses
• Reconcile bank and M-Pesa accounts (KCB, ABSA, M-Pesa, cash) daily and weekly
• Manage petty cash and supplier payments
• Prepare monthly management accounts and P&L
• Track stock and support month-end stock takes
• Run payroll and keep staff records
• Cover the cashier till as needed, including taking payments, issuing receipts and closing the till at end of day
• Flag cash differences, unusual costs or margin issues early

Required profile

• CPA (K) Part II or above, or a diploma or degree in Accounting or Finance
• At least 2 years of hands-on bookkeeping or accounting experience, ideally in retail, food or hospitality
• Experience handling cash, M-Pesa and POS systems
• Good references from previous employers

Required skills

• QuickBooks or similar software
• Strong Excel
• Detail-oriented, honest and trustworthy with money
• Able to work independently and meet monthly deadlines
