Accountant, Pension-Provident and Payroll

About the role

Aga Khan University Hospital in Nairobi is recruiting a qualified and dedicated Accountant, Pension-Provident and Payroll for its Finance Division payroll office. The position holder supports accurate and timely payroll and retirement benefits administration, including pension and provident fund contributions, statutory payments, final staff settlements and payments for locum doctors and independent contractors, while maintaining regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Pension and provident fund administration: ensure complete and accurate deductions, timely enrollments and remittances, coordinate leaver payouts and transfers, ensure RBA regulatory compliance and provide secretariat services to the Board of Trustees.
• Payroll processing and reporting: process monthly payroll for locum doctors and independent contractors (main hospital and outreach), manage statutory filings (NSSF, SHIF, HELB), process final settlements and allocate payroll costs to budget centers.
• Audit and compliance: coordinate timely audits of statutory accounts by assisting in drafting and reviewing audited accounts.

Required profile

• CPA (K) or a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (having both is an added advantage).
• Minimum of three years of relevant working experience.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, strict adherence to deadlines, high integrity, confidentiality and strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping procedures.
• MS Office applications and accounting systems.
