Accounts Officer II

About the role

The Thika Technical Training Institute is looking for an Accounts Officer II to support its finance function. The role involves preparing cash‑flow forecasts, maintaining imprest registers, and producing accurate financial statements for the institute.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare weekly cash‑flow statements and short‑term liquidity forecasts.
• Maintain imprest registers and ensure timely surrender of funds with proper documentation.
• Compile and post general‑ledger entries for cash, revenue, and expenses.
• Execute month‑end closings, reconcile balance‑sheet accounts, and produce monthly financial statements.
• Monitor accounts receivable and provide schedules, reconciliations, and explanations to auditors.
• Verify expenditures before preparing payment vouchers, cheques, and remittances.
• Carry out bank, cash, and selected account reconciliations.
• Prepare lead schedules, trial balances, and statutory levy reconciliations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (Accounting/Finance), Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Business Management or equivalent.
• Part II of the Certified Public Accountants (CPA) examination or equivalent qualification.
• Certificate in relevant computer accounting packages.
• Demonstrated merit and competence in previous work performance.
