Adjunct Instructor – English

About the role

Ferris State University is seeking qualified adjunct instructors to teach English writing courses on a semester‑by‑semester basis. The position supports both face‑to‑face and online delivery across multiple campuses and approved sites.

Key responsibilities

• Teach first‑year, second‑year, and advanced writing courses using face‑to‑face, blended, or fully online formats.
• Prepare syllabi, assignments, and assessments aligned with departmental standards.
• Provide timely feedback and support to students to enhance their writing skills.
• Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to curriculum development as needed.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in English, rhetoric & composition, literature, or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively teach college‑level writing courses.
• Residency in Michigan (or listed neighboring states for fully online courses) for the duration of employment.

Required skills

• Strong command of English grammar, composition, and literary analysis.
• Experience with online teaching platforms and course management systems.
