Architectural / Structural Engineer

About the role

A manpower management firm operating in East Africa is recruiting, on behalf of its client, a competent, skilled and experienced Architectural Engineer / Structural Engineer to work in Kenya. The role supports the planning, design, execution and supervision of building projects under the guidance of senior engineers, helping deliver government and public-sector construction projects in line with Kenyan building codes and EBK standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the planning, design and supervision of building projects, and prepare and review engineering drawings, specifications and technical reports under supervision.
• Work with multidisciplinary teams including architects, structural and MEP engineers and contractors, and take part in continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with Kenyan building codes, EBK standards, safety, environmental and quality requirements; conduct site inspections, monitor progress and report technical issues to senior engineers.
• Help manage project schedules, budgets, risks and resources, and support procurement, contractor evaluation and contract administration.
• Prepare project reports and communicate with clients and stakeholders as directed.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, Architectural, Building or Construction Engineering.
• Registered or progressing towards registration with the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK) or the Board of Registration of Architects and Quantity Surveyors (BORAQS).
• Less than 5 years of relevant building engineering experience; experience on government/public-sector projects is essential.
• Exposure to residential, commercial, institutional or public infrastructure projects.
• Basic knowledge of Kenyan building regulations, contract administration and HSE requirements.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office, MS Project and AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of Revit/BIM is an advantage.
• Strong teamwork, communication and stakeholder management, and ability to work under pressure.
