Business Development Manager – Steel Trading (Kenya)

About the role

We are looking for a dynamic Business Development Manager to drive growth across Kenya’s steel market. You will identify high‑value opportunities in hot‑rolled coil (HRC), cold‑rolled coil (CRC), galvanized (GI) and pre‑painted (PPGI) products, expanding our footprint in the region.

Key responsibilities

• Own the full sales cycle from prospecting and technical consultation to contract negotiation, closing, and long‑term account management.
• Analyse Kenyan market dynamics, import regulations, competitor positioning and demand patterns to craft localized sales strategies.
• Collaborate with Supply Chain, Logistics and Finance teams to navigate customs processes and ensure seamless order fulfillment.
• Develop and nurture strategic partnerships with existing clients while aggressively expanding market share to exceed sales targets.
• Represent the company at major Kenyan trade events and industry associations to boost brand visibility.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or a related field.
• Fluent English for business communication.
• Minimum 3 years of international steel trading experience with a proven import/export track record.
• Strong negotiation skills, commercial acumen and an established network within the Kenyan steel industry.
• Self‑starter with resilience, comfortable working independently and travelling frequently across the region.
