Commercial & Business Development Manager – Events & Hospitality

About the role

Career Directions Limited is recruiting a Commercial & Business Development Manager for a client in Kiambu County whose property has potential for outdoor events, hospitality, leisure, entertainment or other commercially viable activities. The business model is not predetermined: the successful candidate will assess the property, market and available resources and recommend the most viable commercial proposition. The role reports to the Owner / Shareholder.

Key responsibilities

• Assess the property, market, competition and commercial opportunities.
• Develop the business model, business plan and revenue strategy, including pricing, revenue targets and operating budgets.
• Identify target markets, products, services and revenue streams.
• Monitor revenue, costs, cash flow and P&L performance.
• Build strategic partnerships with corporates, event organisers, suppliers and other stakeholders.
• Drive sales, marketing, customer acquisition and new business development.
• Identify required infrastructure and investment, prioritising by potential returns.
• Develop operating systems, processes and staffing structures, then lead implementation of the approved business model.
• Establish KPIs and report regularly to the Owner / Shareholder.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in events, hospitality, leisure, tourism, entertainment, venue management, experiential marketing, property activation, sales or business development.
• Demonstrated experience in commercial development, revenue generation, client acquisition, partnerships and business growth.
• Entrepreneurial, hands-on and commercially minded, able to turn a concept into a sustainable, profitable enterprise.
