Complaints Management Officer II

About the role

The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA), which provides civilian oversight of the police under the IPOA Act, is recruiting three Complaints Management Officer II officers. The post sits in the Complaints Management Section of the Complaints Management and Counselling Services Directorate, reporting to the Senior Assistant Director, Complaints Management or the Assistant Director, Regional Coordination. The core purpose is receiving, sorting and processing complaints about police misconduct.

Key responsibilities

• Implement strategies, policies, manuals, plans, standards and procedures for complaints management
• Receive, document and process complaints
• Update records of all complaints received and processed
• Take part in inquiries into complaints of police misconduct and complaints management review meetings
• Implement the recommendations of the Internal Case Intake Committee
• Collect and collate data for internal and external reports on complaints management
• Implement risk mitigation measures
• Give feedback to complainants on the status of their complaints

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Law, Criminology, Psychology, Social Sciences, Public Administration, Public Relations, Sociology or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution
• Proficiency in computer application
