Compliance & Legal Officer / MLRO (Nairobi)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Compliance & Legal Officer to lead our AML/CFT programme and provide legal support for our fast‑growing cross‑border payments business in Kenya.

Key responsibilities

• Own the AML/CFT program and act as Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO).
• Maintain regulatory liaison with the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) and the Financial Reporting Centre (FRC).
• Prepare and submit goAML/FRC reports in line with POCAMLA and CBK guidelines.
• Draft commercial contracts, corporate governance documents and provide general legal advice.
• Support cross‑border B2B compliance initiatives.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of compliance/AML experience at a CBK‑licensed money remittance provider, payment service provider or bank.
• Hands‑on experience as a Compliance Officer/MLRO; experience limited to forex bureaus is not acceptable.
• Strong knowledge of POCAMLA, CBK AML/CFT guidelines and FRC/goAML reporting.
• Experience drafting commercial contracts and corporate governance documentation.
• Relevant certification such as ICA or CAMS is a plus.
