Cost Controller

About the role

The Cost Controller will support MGallery Hotel Collection’s Nairobi property by ensuring accurate cost monitoring and reporting across all food, beverage and general store operations. You will work closely with the accounting, purchasing and department heads to maintain tight control over inventory, pricing and variance analysis.

Key responsibilities

• Implement cost‑control objectives for the hotel and develop auditing systems for materials management.
• Audit daily receiving variance reports, price and quantity variances, and inventory transactions.
• Verify recipe accuracy and standard costing for all outlets and kitchens.
• Prepare daily and monthly cost summaries for Accounting and Control departments.
• Provide department heads with cost figures for profit‑center performance.
• Produce comparison reports of actual vs. potential food and beverage costs and sales.
• Reconcile officer and entertainment checks and apply appropriate credits.
• Analyse general stores issues against budget and journalise month‑end figures.
• Monitor and correct data entered by operation‑level staff, ensuring accurate materials management records.
• Maintain organized files for cost audits, operating equipment and FF&E records.
• Conduct market surveys to keep purchase prices below market retail levels.
• Investigate spoilage causes and ensure proper inventory handling according to accounting principles.

Required profile

• Entry‑level candidate with up to 2 years of relevant experience.
• Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multiple departments.
• Good command of English, both written and spoken.
