Job description

About the role

Green Earth Group develops nature-based projects such as reforestation, land restoration, biodiversity and sustainable land use, working with local communities and smallholder farmers to generate carbon credits. Its Kenya venture is a complex operation with seven divisions, and the Country Director is the single point of accountability for the venture's overall performance and its alignment with the head office. The role turns the group's mission into a smoothly running operation on the ground.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate the seven divisions of the Kenya venture so they work as one operation
  • Review performance across every division weekly and resolve obstacles directly or route them to the right team
  • Resolve conflicts between divisions quickly and ensure decisions are recorded
  • Approve resource allocations, budgets and hiring decisions within your authority
  • Stop any activity that risks the mission, people or compliance
  • Report clearly and honestly to head office and escalate decisions outside your authority
  • Translate head office strategy into operational priorities for each division head and build strong division heads
  • Build and scale a high-performing outgrower system, own farmer network performance, and set up onboarding, training and monitoring processes
  • Lead local field teams and implementation partners, maintain relationships with farmer groups and community stakeholders, and ensure operational consistency across geographies

Required profile

  • Proven experience leading a country, regional or multi-division operation, ideally in agriculture, agroforestry, carbon, land restoration or rural development
  • Track record managing large teams and large smallholder or community networks
  • Hands-on operational mindset with a focus on execution and delivery
  • Strong leadership skills, able to take ownership and make decisions
  • Knowledge of Kenya's agricultural and community landscape, including government and regulatory stakeholders
  • Fluency in English; Swahili is a strong advantage

Required skills

  • Managing budgets, resources and cross-functional coordination
  • Solving problems independently in complex, fast-moving environments
  • Honest, clear communication and reporting

What we offer

  • Competitive salary based on experience
  • Competitive growth opportunity
  • Exposure to large-scale international projects and direct involvement in land restoration and nature-based projects
  • A flexible, performance-driven environment with high ownership and low bureaucracy
