Country Manager – East Africa (Construction Equipment)

About the role

JAPAfrica is seeking a senior professional to lead the development, positioning and commercial growth of premium construction and mining equipment brands across East African markets. The role offers strategic leadership with strong exposure to international partners, dealer networks and after‑sales operations.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and develop the assigned Hyundai Construction Equipment (HCE) brand across JAPAfrica markets.
• Define and promote product offerings tailored to each market’s needs and specifications.
• Develop and execute the brand’s commercial strategy, including pricing and market positioning.
• Support the growth and performance of the dealer/importer network from both business and operational perspectives.
• Design and implement after‑sales strategies aligned with brand standards and customer expectations.
• Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer requirements.
• Track business KPIs, commercial performance and brand development indicators.
• Negotiate and communicate with international manufacturers, partners and key stakeholders.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of experience with premium construction or mining equipment brands (e.g., CAT, Volvo, Komatsu, Liebherr).
• Proven background in brand management, preferably from an importer, distributor or regional management perspective.
• Strong understanding of international markets, dealer networks and after‑sales operations.
• Strategic mindset with the ability to set commercial priorities across multiple countries.
• Excellent negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Willingness to travel frequently across the region.
• Native or equivalent level of English; additional languages are a plus.
