Data Architect

About the role

KCB Bank is hiring a full-time Data Architect in Nairobi, advertised by Corporate Staffing Services. The role develops and aligns information architecture strategy with business processes and goals, covering data definitions and stewardship, information lifecycle management, big data, integrated data security and unified collaboration. It is a management-level position.

Key responsibilities

• Provide information strategy and architecture for the Bank, including design blueprints, artefacts and validated roadmaps.
• Design and guide consistent cross-functional enterprise data solutions across technologies and platforms.
• Elicit and document business requirements through interviews, workshops, surveys, site visits, use cases and workflow analysis.
• Maintain architectures affecting the Bank's information architecture, including structured and unstructured data standards, roadmaps, patterns and methodologies.
• Lead the breakdown of business vision and strategy into technology deliverables mapped to data needs, and liaise with program and data platform leadership on dependencies.
• Provide data engineering and data solution governance so build components follow cross-program solutions.
• Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies for data management, storage and analytics such as IoT, big data, AI and machine learning.
• Analyse the current business framework to identify critical data gaps and recommend improvements aligned with IT strategy.
• Coordinate integration architecture so project-based solutions align with enterprise principles, patterns and standards.
• Develop conceptual, logical and physical data models for data analysis and business intelligence.
• Take part in the IT quality assurance process.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or a related field.
• At least 7 years of total technical experience in IT, with a focus on data analysis, data systems, data models, data governance, data architecture, applications architecture and/or software development.
• At least 5 years in data architecture and in database and operating system environments.
• Experience in at least three of: application architecture, data architecture, integration architecture, application development, middleware, microservices, in a multi-tier environment.
• Experience operating and administering Windows and Unix systems.
• Preferred: TOGAF and CBAP certifications; project management or Scrum certifications such as PRINCE II, PMP, MSP, SMC, CSM or PMI-ACP.
