Director – Public Service Agency

About the role

The Public Service Commission of Kenya is seeking a senior Director to lead a major functional area. This full‑time, on‑site position in Nairobi will drive strategic planning, policy development, and implementation in line with the Commission’s constitutional and statutory mandate.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direction and oversight to departmental teams, ensuring alignment with PSC’s strategic objectives.
• Coordinate inter‑agency initiatives and monitor performance against established targets.
• Prepare and present analytical reports to senior leadership and senior government stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with the Constitution of Kenya, public service legislation, and PSC’s values and principles.
• Mentor staff, manage resources, and promote a culture of transparency, ethics, and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level leadership experience in government or a comparable public‑sector environment.
• Strong background in policy analysis, strategic planning, and public administration.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder‑engagement abilities.
• Demonstrated integrity, ethical conduct, and commitment to public‑service values.
• Advanced knowledge of budgeting, resource management, and performance monitoring.
• Bachelor’s degree in public administration, law, governance, management or related field; master’s degree preferred.
