Driver (Open to Local Residents of Tana River County)

About the role

World Vision Kenya, a Christian humanitarian organisation, is hiring a driver for its fleet to support programme staff. The post is a local fixed-term position open only to applicants who are residents of Tana River County. The driver ensures that staff are safely and efficiently taken to and from work and other official duties, and keeps the fleet safe, healthy and economical.

Key responsibilities

• Take staff and visitors to and from work and field activities on time, ensuring their safety and the safety of the vehicle during journeys.
• Mobilise extra vehicles and drivers for key events such as donor visits, campaigns, evaluations and baseline surveys.
• Keep vehicles clean, maintain a vehicle movement log book, check mechanical and operational soundness, and ensure timely servicing.
• Carry out minor repairs, recommend major repairs, obey traffic laws, park at recommended areas and submit spare keys to fleet management.
• Submit monthly vehicle reports, forward invoices and fuel returns, and report accidents for claims.
• Deliver parcels and mail, liaise with service providers, and support community mobilisation.
• Act as bank agent for bank transactions.

Required profile

• KCSE certificate.
• At least 3 years' driving experience in class C1, C, CE, D3 or CD under the new classification.
• Basic knowledge of motor vehicle maintenance and computer literacy certificate.
• Reference letter from the local chief; must be a local and resident of Tana River County.
• First aid and defensive driving certifications are an added advantage; prior NGO experience is also an added advantage.
