Technical Manager - Nairobi

About the role

The Technical Manager in Nairobi oversees daily technical operations for vehicle tracking and fleet management systems, including installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and servicing of GPS trackers, fuel monitoring systems, dash cameras and other telematics equipment. The role also leads and develops the technical team and sets performance standards.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure timely, accurate and quality installation of GPS tracking devices, fuel monitoring systems, dash cameras and other telematics equipment in line with customer requirements and company standards.
• Develop, implement and continuously improve SOPs, technical standards and operational processes.
• Plan, coordinate and monitor technical assignments and installation schedules so they meet timelines, quality standards and SLAs.
• Lead, supervise and guide technicians and installation teams; set KPIs, run performance reviews and coach staff to close skill gaps.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, occupational health and safety procedures and technical standards.
• Manage technical tools, equipment, vehicles and inventory, and carry out quality checks and random inspections of completed work.
• Coordinate with Sales and Customer Service on customer onboarding and installation planning, and oversee technical support so issues are tracked and resolved within SLAs.
• Investigate recurring failures, escalate complex issues to regional teams, and collaborate with IT and software teams on platform issues.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and keep up to date with GPS tracking, IoT, vehicle diagnostics and fleet management.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Auto Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• At least 5 years of relevant technical experience, including 2-3 years in a supervisory or management position.
• Experience managing technical teams and field operations.

Required skills

• Experience with GPS tracking, vehicle telematics, fleet management systems, automotive electronics or IoT solutions.
• Strong understanding of vehicle electrical systems, GPS devices, sensors and communication technologies.
• Technical troubleshooting and service delivery management.
