Education Specialist – UN Volunteer

About the role
The Education Specialist will join UNICEF’s Global Education Practice Team at the Nairobi Centre of Excellence, supporting worldwide efforts to reach out‑of‑school children and promote equitable, inclusive education. Working under the Senior Advisor for Education (Gender, Equity and Inclusion), the role contributes to cross‑sectoral initiatives linking education with health, nutrition, WASH, child protection and climate change.
Key responsibilities
- Provide technical assistance to Country Offices on out‑of‑school children, equity and inclusive education.
- Support the Equity, Disability, Gender and Inclusion (EDGI) pillar, including research on learning inequities and coordination of a global webinar series.
- Advance cross‑sectoral collaboration through participation in UNICEF’s Internal Coordination Group on School Health and Well‑being.
- Contribute to the development of programme guidance and the Investment Case on School Health and Well‑being.
- Assist additional initiatives that further UNICEF’s global education equity agenda.
Required profile
- Master’s degree in Education or a related social science field.
- Minimum five years of professional experience in education for marginalized or out‑of‑school children.
- Experience with cross‑sectoral programming, preferably in developing‑country contexts.
- Fluent English; working knowledge of French is desirable.

- UN Volunteer living allowance of US$2,740 – US$3,190 per month, together with a benefits package to ensure a secure standard of living.
