About the role

The Employment Specialist serves as a key member of the triage team, guiding disabled veterans toward the most suitable employment track and supporting their transition into the workforce. This position coordinates assessments, job‑readiness activities, and employer outreach to ensure veterans receive comprehensive employment services.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct rapid access to employment assessments, including resume preparation, interview coaching, and career search support.
• Market veterans to employers based on vocational goals and negotiate special incentives such as on‑the‑job training and tax benefits.
• Coordinate and deliver employment‑readiness classes for veterans lacking essential job skills.
• Maintain a positive image of the VR&E program through networking and employer contacts.
• Provide guidance to employers on reasonable accommodations and assistive technology.
• Disseminate labor‑market information to counselors and veterans for informed decision‑making.
• Update and manage a database of job‑ready veterans using the Corporate WINRS system.
• Develop partnerships with government agencies, private sector businesses, and employment services to expand job opportunities.
• Track and report employment performance data and maintain case notes.

Required profile

• Experience working with disabled veterans or in a veteran‑focused employment program.
• Strong understanding of vocational counseling, labor‑market trends, and employer incentives.
• Excellent communication and networking abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple cases and maintain accurate records.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the Corporate WINRS tracking system.
• Knowledge of assistive technology and reasonable accommodation guidelines.
• Familiarity with labor‑market information sources and job‑search databases.
