Financial Controller

About the role

Brites Management Services is hiring a Financial Controller in Mombasa on a full-time basis. The role covers financial management, cost accounting, budgeting, internal controls, cash flow and treasury, and leading the finance and accounting team.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and present management accounts to executive leadership
• Maintain cost accounting systems, monitor production costs and variances, and oversee inventory valuation and stock counts
• Lead annual budgeting, financial forecasting and variance analysis, and support strategic planning
• Design and monitor internal controls, coordinate internal and external audits and ensure statutory filings are on time
• Monitor cash flow, manage working capital and prepare cash flow forecasts
• Lead, mentor and evaluate the finance and accounting team, and work with operations, procurement, sales and production
• Identify financial risks, ensure insurance coverage and support business continuity planning

Required profile

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related field
• CPA(K), ACCA or an equivalent professional accounting qualification is mandatory
• At least 8 years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including 3-5 years in a senior finance leadership role
• Proven experience in a manufacturing or FMCG environment is mandatory

Required skills

• Cost accounting, inventory management, budgeting and forecasting, financial reporting and analysis
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, taxation and financial reporting standards
• Advanced financial modelling and ERP and accounting software proficiency
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and strong leadership and coaching skills
