Senior Accountant

About the role

Africa Global Logistics is hiring a Senior Accountant through its corporate staffing partner. The role covers accounting operations, financial statements, account reconciliation, budget monitoring and compliance with financial regulations and company policies. It is a full-time, on-site position.

Key responsibilities

• Tax: understand tax requirements and changes, prepare and review VAT, PAYE and Withholding Tax returns, and respond to tax authority queries
• Posting: review supplier vouchers for proper coding and allocation, ensure costs are documented (LPOs, delivery notes), approve invoices per matrix, and run monthly standing charges and prepaid/accrued expense matching
• Monthly accounts: explain accounts classes 1-4 and 6-8, review and post provisions on time, and close the month accurately as first reviewer of the general ledger
• Supplier control: track and dispatch invoices for approval, reconcile suppliers, validate remittances in IRIS, and check for suppliers in debit
• Intercompany balances: settle monthly and reconcile before payment
• Support the Financial Controller on leave, lead the accounting team, and support internal controls, audits and stock takes

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in commerce or a related business course
• CPA(K) qualification
• 5 years' experience in a similar role
• 3 years' experience in freight forwarding
